If you want to to explore and complete quest but not much building in settlements then survival. #1.Very hard= enemies have ×10 hp and you do 1/2 damage. Survival enemies do×30 damage and you do ×25 damage. Hp is not affected. So no, very hard does not help you get ready for survival, it just makes you need to find cricket for her special gun faster. Edit: I didn't look up any real damage numbers, just how it feels. 2.
